New Interpreter Training Classes Start February 2006
Oakland, CA -- January 3, 2006 -- Language 411 today officially announced its 2006 training calendar for those individuals who are beginning in the language services profession or wish to obtain formal training in interpretation and translation.
Language 411 is offering one, two, and five-day courses on various topics related to interpretation and translation. See the complete schedule.
The intensive five-day series, Introduction to Community Interpreting, will cover substantive areas of interpreting theory, ethics, roles and responsibilities, poverty law, and expectations and skills of the community interpreter. These training workshops are also beneficial to those who interpret informally as ad hoc interpreters or work as bilingual staff members.
The fee for our five-day community interpreting training is $500. Limited financial aid is available for those who can demonstrate need. Upon successful completion of the training, and based on demonstrated understanding of the presented concepts, a Certificate of Achievement will be awarded.
Training sessions will be led by Angela Zawadzki, a certified judicial interpreter for the State of California and Federal Courts. A native of Colombia, Angela is fluent in English, Spanish, Italian, and French. Angela has taught language, rhetoric, and literature in various academic settings and has served on the faculty of San Francisco State University where she designed and taught courses leading to a certificate in court and legal interpretation. She also creates and delivers workshops on linguistics, community interpretation and specialized interpreting topics.
